TELE-FONIKA Kable has won a tender for the delivery of a 220 kV cable system for the Porąbka – Żar Complex of Pumped Storage Power Plants. Within the framework of the project implemented by Elektrobudowa S.A., TELE-FONIKA will deliver and install a complete system based on the XnRUHAKXS 1×400/120 127/220 kV cable and Pfisterer accessories.

LS Cable Gets US$11.7 Million Order from Siemens

LS Cable Ltd. (KSE: 006260), South Korea’s biggest cable and wire manufacturer, said Tuesday it has won a 14 billion won (US$11.7 million) order from Germany’s Siemens AG to supply cables for railroads.
The order calls for LS Cable to provide electricity and telecommunications cables for a railway construction by Siemens in Saudi Arabia by the end of November, the South Korean company said in a statement.

Draka Communications – Americas announces an extension to its line of ezPREP® Central Loose Tube fiber optic drop cables by launching a new 300 lb. tensile rated design with a choice of three different levels of bend insensitive fiber. In September 2009, Draka and Tyco held a joint national webinar through OSP Magazine to educate the market on smaller and lighter outdoor cables and the associated hardware that would soon be available. These products are made possible in large part due to bend insensitive fibers and are an important part of the market’s desire to install environmentally friendly telecommunications networks.

Leoni obtains contract to equip the world’s second largest solar power plant

Leoni, the leading provider of cable systems to the automotive sector and other industries, is equipping the Lieberose solar farm in Brandenburg, which is the world’s second largest photovoltaic plant with output of 53 megawatts, with special cables. These will carry the current from about 700,000 solar modules. Leoni is currently expanding its capacity for further growth in the renewable energy market. The Company will shortly be presenting its portfolio at the 24th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition in Hamburg.
