Nexans Announces 2010 First Half-Year Results

· Sales at constant metal prices(1): 2.1 billion euros, down 5.3% in organic terms
· Net upturn in sales in the second quarter: 12%(2) higher than the first quarter
· Operating margin as a percentage of sales(3) at 4%, in line with expectations
· Expected increase in sales and operating margin for the second half of the year. Full year operating margin as a percentage of sales expected around 4.5% with possible upside

Leoni Raises 2010 Sales and Earnings Forecasts Significantly

Leoni AG of Nuremberg has raised its forecast for fiscal 2010. The Company now expects to generate sales of between EUR 2.6 and 2.7 billion and thus to achieve a year-on-year increase of between 20 and 25 percent. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) are now put at about EUR 100 million. Leoni previously projected a sales rise of about 10 percent to EUR 2.4 billion with EBIT of at least EUR 50 million.

Nexans completes successful test of world’s first HVDC superconducting power transmission system

Nexans, the worldwide leader in the cable industry, has completed successfully the test of the world’s first HVDC high temperature superconductor (HTS) power transmission cable designed for 200 kV. This result constitutes an important step in demonstrating the capability of underground HVDC HTS cables to transfer bulk power at the gigawatt levels required by proposed supergrid projects such as the Tres Amigas renewable energy market hub in the US.
