New Belden Halogen-Free component Video cables

March 11, 2008

OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE AND REDUCED INSTALLATION COSTS:

New Belden Halogen-Free component Video cables

Belden has extended its popular Halogen-Free Snake Cable range by introducing VideoFlex® FRNC 1855ENx. The new cable combines important benefits to both users and installers, delivering optimum performance whilst reducing installation time and therefore labor costs.

FRNC 1855ENx performs at higher frequencies for digital applications (SD/HD) and can be used at lower frequencies for analog applications. It can also be used for distributing RGB and Sync signals over extended distances. Cables have a Minimum Return Loss of 24dB at all frequencies up to 1500 MHz and the coaxes are pre-timed to less than 4.0 ns/m delay difference between each coax. The high velocity, low-loss PE dielectric ensures low attenuation over long distances as well as improved timing.

The new VideoFlex® FRNC 1855ENx cable is halogen-free with greater than normal flexibility. Standard bundled halogen-free coax cables are notoriously stiff and difficult to strip for termination, especially when rated for IEC 332-1 use. This new cables overcomes these problems because it is made with flexible halogen-free plastic (rated IEC: 60332-1) with the added advantage of no toxic gases and low smoke density. It can be used inside or at outdoor locations as it is UV resistant and cold flexible in temperatures as low as -40°C.

Belden introduces new Brilliance speaker cables

March 5, 2008

Oxygen-Free, High-Conductivity, Halogen-Free:

Belden introduces new Brilliance® speaker cables

Belden has introduced Brilliance® Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity (OFHC) halogen-free speaker cables. Designed for indoor, outdoor and buried applications, these cables connect loudspeakers with amplifiers and thanks to their high conductivity oxygen-free copper core, they deliver superior and distinctive sound performance. Twisted and color-coded conductors provide better RF, sound quality and improved EMC and low capacitance polyolefin insulation ensures superior high frequency response and extended distance runs.

These new Brilliance® OFHC halogen-free cables are ideal for use residential buildings, cruise ships, conference rooms, airports, music venues, hospitals, schools and similar situations, and their performance will be of interest too for loudspeaker manufacturers and equipment installers. The use of halogen-free plastic means no toxic gas and low smoke emissions during a fire.

Werner Eich, Belden EMEA Marketing manager for Entertainment says: “Transmission of sound, whether to a few people or to thousands in a stadium, always needs to be clear and of the finest speaker quality. Once again, Belden has developed an innovative cable to provide the very best performance.”

In addition to superior performance, new Brilliance® OFHC halogen-free speaker cables have a number of installation advantages over competitive products. These include easier installation with highly stranded copper conductors, easy to pull constructions and easier installation with zone legends for location identification and meter marked cable jackets. The cables can be used inside or outdoors with cold flexibility up to -40°C and their small outer diameter significantly reduces cable space.

Beldden Brilliance® OFHC halogen-free speaker cables are available in four types of unshielded single pair and speaker snake cable. These include 2.5mm² and 4.0mm² constructions, all with 100, 500 and 1000m put-ups. The cables have highly efficient, high purity copper conductors to transmit super quality sound and are twisted and coded for easy identification. In addition, polyolefin insulation, which is better than traditional PVC, provides exceptional audio clarity together with superior high frequency response and extended distance runs. The cables have flexible, black, halogen-free jackets.
