With many worldwide telecoms’ changing their current SDH/SONET rings to Metro Ethernet rings, Foxcom felt that an Active Ethernet solution would be a natural extension giving the telecom the ease of management, breadth of service offerings available in Ethernet networks. Active Ethernet networks offer higher potential bandwidth speeds as well as native Layer2/3/4 support, they are SNMP managed and can offer the same reliability today that telecom’s are used to.
