Under certain extreme conditions bond delamination can occur at the interface between a polyurethane moulding and metallic connectors. This has long been a major issue within our industry with potentially significant system reliability implications. It has proven to be a very difficult factor for connector and harness suppliers like PDM who have no influence over the service conditions of assemblies such as the proximity to system protective anodes.   A solution to this issue adopted by the US military has been the use of ceramic non conductive coatings applied to the connectors but this is a very expensive solution available from a limited number of suppliers and which still relies on a metallic bond interface.   PDM have addressed this issue by adapting the very popular and versatile MHD range of Impulse connectors and can now offer them with a non-metallic PEEK (polyetheretherketone) body hence eliminating any metallic bond interface and effectively preventing any delamination failure. The connector retains its robust metal engaging nut.
